Regatta and Course Analysis

Analyze This

The course analysis page provides several functions

  • Wind angle statistics. Numerical and graphical analysis of how much of the course is sailed at a given angle. Angles are color coded: green for angles with significant tack and gybe, blue for up and downwind within optimal angles, brown for reachier, and red for close to beam reach

  • Time Predictions. Select one or more boats from the tabs at the bottom of the page -- ORC, ORR-EZ, ORR-Offshore, ORR-Short, EXP, and PHRF, one tab per rating type. Each tab lists the boats that have that kind of rating on file; a boat only needs one rating to be included. See Boat Ratings and Certificates for what each tab means and how to add a boat that isn't listed yet.
  • If you've set up divisions for this regatta, pick one from the division dropdown above the tabs to filter every list down to that division's boats, and to enable click-to-assign (click a boat's name to add or remove it from the division without leaving this page). See Divisions and Classes.timetable

Just add weather!

Tides are downloaded and saved at a range of tidal locations on an hourly basis going out about a year. Wind forecasts are saved based on a local grid going out 16 days, using HRRR for the first two days and GFS for the remainder.

Outside of these timeframes, or at your option, you can apply a windspeed and direction which will be uniform over the course.
